New Item – Blue Heron Hooks

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGuest Blogger: Bob Nelson, Sacramento, CA
I have been tying on this Blue Heron hook for over two years and it has produced fish from Oregon, Washington and Northern California. Dave McNeese, a well-known fly tyer and fisherman in Oregon and throughout the Northwest, designed these hooks. When a seasoned and well known Steelhead fisherman designs a hook, why wouldn’t you give it a try? I first saw an article about these hooks in a fly fishing magazine. The first hooks I bought, I bought over the phone directly from Dave. I have since watched him tie on the hook at the Northwest Fly Tying Expo. The hook has a low angle eye keeps the fly from riding up on the swing. The hook is made from a high quality steel and helps prevent it from breaking on rocks. The long, extra sharp point makes for easy hook-ups too. I really like the great look of this black-chromed hook. It has a beautiful profile that makes it ideal for presentation tying as well. It is the only hook I use for Steelhead and Salmon Spey Flies.

Note from J. Stockard: Based on Bob’s recommendation, we added Blue Heron Hooks to our selection. We have them in stock now!
